Pasbaan e Adab Trust, that is an initiative of senior IPS officer Quaiser Khalid, would be hosting Meeraas: The Heritage An event of soulful Urdu poetry & Music on 25 December 2019 at Nehru Centre at Worli in Mumbai.

MUMBAI, Who's who in the field of arts, culture, poetry and literature will converge in
Mumbai to pay rich tributes to Mirza Ghalib, the legendary Urdu and Persian poet.
Pasbaan e Adab Trust, that is an initiative of senior IPS officer Quaiser Khalid, would be
hosting Meeraas: The Heritage An event of soulful Urdu poetry & Music on 25
December 2019 at Nehru Centre at Worli in Mumbai.
Ghalib, born Mirza Asadullah Baig Khan (27 December 1797 – 15 February 1869), was a
prominent Urdu and Persian poet during the last years of the Mughal Empire.
He used his pen-names of Ghalib and Asad. His honorific was Dabir-ul-Mulk, Najm-ud-Daula.
During his lifetime, the already declining Mughal empire was eclipsed and displaced by the
Colonial British Raj and finally deposed following the defeat of the Indian rebellion of 1857,
are some of the events that he described through his work.
" The poetry of Mirza Ghalib is powerful narrative of human life , its love and longings ,
its dream are realities and hence eternally relevant ," said IPS Quaiser Khalid.
According to him, the festival will feature the ‘ Ink Band’ ( India's first poetry band ) led by
famous Bollywood lyricist Irshad Kamil and his colleagues. "Besides, we will celebrate works
of legendry Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib on his 150th death anniversary. Famous ghazals of
Ghalib, originally composed, will be rendered by famous singer Tauseef Akthar," said DIG
Quaiser Khalid.
Over the last one decade we have organized more than 50 events promoting Indian languages,
literature, arts, dance, music, and other literary forms.
" We organize Mushaira, Kavi Sammelan, Dastaangoi (traditional story narration sessions),
events for upcoming writers, women authors, debates, discussions, symposia, art exhibitions,
semi classical singing and dance performances, memorial services for literary legends etc in
Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Lucknow, Rai Bareily and others cities. Our events
are attended by large numbers of audience from different countries and towns as well as from
different fields, like education, industry, film, social service, business, bureaucracy etc. We
also have major attendance by women and youth, " a spokesperson of the trust said.
To revive the tradition of quality Marathi poetry, aimed at the integration of the new
generation with the heritage of our language and literature, Kavyanjali will simultaneously
feature the best of the contemporary generation of Marathi poets like Ashok Naigaovkar,
Ashwini shende , Guru Thakur, Kishore Kadam , Sameer Samant, Sripad Joshi , Vaibhav Joshi ,
Ravindra Rakhe and many more.
