Ham Radio operators helped to save lives

Emergency medical supplies were sent from Mumbai to Aurallur, Outeri for Athmeetal Pushpa under the leadership of Koyilandy Fire & Rescue Station. The V CARE Foundation in Mumbai was offering free medicine worth up to Rs 1 lakh. Civil Defense volunteer Sriraj informed the fire station that he was informed about non availability of medicine due to the lockdown. Immediately a civil volunteer and a HAM Mr. Ashraf contact a Ham VU2JPN Jaiprakash in Mumbai. And through Mr. TC Rajgopalan Nair's  contact at Mumbai with All India Malayali Association Maharashtra General Secretary Adv. Prema Menon got involved and started trying. When it became difficult to provide such precious medicine directly, Fire & Rescue and Koilandy Station Officer CP Anandan phoned the company and was ready to provide the medicine to Malayalee Association Advo.Prema Menon. Ms Sneha Mathew who was on her way from Mumbai to Kasaragod was sent to the ambulance by a nurse. Regional Fire Officer Shri. Fire and rescue vehicle was brought to Koilandi under the direction of Abdul Rasheed Sir. Medicine was given to the patient today (30.04.2020) by Koyilandi Station Officer. C.P. Anandan, Asst. Station Officer. K. Satheesan, Fire & Rescue Officers where Manuprasad, Manoj, Civil Defense volunteers/ Ham VU3MTY Ashraf Kappad, Sreeraj and Nithin Lal were also present.
