Mumbai, 12th March 2023: Oracle Red Bull Racing gave Mumbai an exciting Formula One showcase with its legendary RB7 car. The roar of an F1 engine in a car driven by famous 13-time Grand Prix winner David Coulthard made the Red Bull Showrun Mumbai 2023 an event to remember. Entertaining the audience along a 1-km stretch of the sea-facing Bandra Bandstand Road, Coulthard provided a glimpse of the incredible output of the Oracle Red Bull Racing car.
The Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai Police, Mumbai Traffic Police, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Maharashtra Maritime Board, Bandra Bandstand Residents Trust, Mumbai Fire Brigade, played a crucial role in the organizing of this mega event.
Speaking about his third visit to India for the Red Bull Showrun, David Coulthard said, “It’s always good to be back in India. We truly appreciate the support the F1 fans of this country have always given us. It’s my third time here for the showrun and the enthusiasm in this country has only increased since my last visit. I look forward to being back in India again soon! It’s always a special feeling to drive a Formula One car for the sheer thrill of the fans and it was incredible to take the car for a spin at such an iconic location. What made this Showrun even more special was that we are the first team to have driven a Formula One car on the streets of Mumbai’s Bandra Bandstand. This city and its enthusiasm are something I will remember long after I return home.”
Super cars from the Super Car Club Garage, owned by industrialist Gautam Singhania, founder and chairman of Super Car Club of India, paraded the streets as an opening act for the Showrun. Lithuanian freestyle stunt biker Aras Gibieza performed some gravity-defying feats, followed by a special delivery for Coulthard that was fulfilled by Swiggy Instamart. The Showrun was flagged off by Smt. Poonam Mahajanji, Hon’ble Member of Parliament - Mumbai North Central along with Shri Ashish Shelarji, Hon'ble Member of Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra, officially unleashing the RB7 to enthrall the fans.
The iconic RB7 is a 750-horsepower car with an eight-cylinder 2,400cc engine. It produces 18,000 revolutions per minute. It won the first-ever Indian Grand Prix at Buddh International Circuit in 2011 and registered a total of 12 wins out of 19 races in that season.
Speaking about the spectacular engineering of the RB7, Coulthard said, “If you look at the rear of this car (RB7) you can see how small and tightly packaged it is. It is a beautiful piece of engineering art. It is very nimble, feels like an extension of your body.”
The Showrun ended on a memorable note with Coulthard waving the Indian flag.
