Diwali Get-together at Maharashtra Vidhan Bhavan

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar today organized a Diwali get-together with prominent businessmen from the vicinity in the Assembly premises. During this event, he discussed the region's problems and the difficulties they face in doing business, and he and the government are committed to addressing them.

During the same event, a poster commemorating the 180th birth anniversary of Vasudev Balwant Phadke, the " Father of the Indian Armed Rebellion", born in Maharashtra created by Jagdish Purohit of the Adarsh Hotel Group family, was also unveiled. This poster's prominently features the revolutionary's portrait and highlights in the field of education which is rarely know to public.

Eminent businessmen and leading institutions participated enthusiastically in this event. Prominent businessmen from the region also addressed the gathering, including Chandan Bhansali, President of the Metal and Stainless Steel Association (MASMA), Jitendra Shah, President of the Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM), Kumar Jain, National Spokesperson of the India Bullion and Jewelers Association (IBJA), and Manoj Jalan of the Bharat Merchants Chambers. The coordinator of this event was ex Municipal Corporator and BJP South Mumbai’s Vice president Janak Sanghvi.

Under the leadership of Shri Rahul Laxman Patil, Convener, the Tri-Services Lord Buddha Circuit Motorcycle Expedition stands as a remarkable blend of India’s spiritual heritage and the discipline of its armed forces. What began as the dream of a son of the Sahyadri soil has transformed into a national movement, carrying forward the timeless message of Lord Buddha while embodying the unity of the Army, Navy and Air Force.

A Historic Journey

The expedition charts an extraordinary course of nearly 5,000 kilometres across seven Indian states—Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. By traversing this vast and varied terrain, the riders symbolically link the fertile plains of the Ganga, the ancient Buddhist heartlands of Bihar, the cultural richness of central India, and the vibrant Deccan plateau, before moving towards the southern seaboard. This route not only celebrates India’s geographical diversity but also serves as a spiritual pathway, retracing the footsteps of Lord Buddha and uniting heritage sites with living communities.

Leadership and Patronage

At the helm is Shri Rahul Laxman Patil, whose conviction and resolve have inspired institutions and individuals alike. His role goes far beyond logistics; it is about vision, persuasion, and the ability to weave cultural values into a modern national endeavour.

The initiative is further strengthened by the guidance of Dr Anil Bonde, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), who serves as Sanrakshak (Patron). His association ensures that the expedition resonates with both cultural authority and institutional credibility, offering an anchor of support that bridges tradition and governance.

Armed Forces Participation

The involvement of serving officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force gives the expedition its unique stature. Riding specially prepared motorcycles, these officers embody courage, camaraderie, and discipline. Their presence underlines that the message of Lord Buddha—peace, compassion, and ethical conduct—is not in contradiction with military service, but rather enhances the moral compass of national defence. It highlights how the armed forces safeguard not only the nation’s borders but also its values.

Objectives and Values

This is not a mere motorcycle rally. The expedition has been conceived as a journey of values with three primary aims:

1. Spiritual and Cultural Diplomacy – to celebrate and spread the teachings of Lord Buddha, drawing attention to his eternal message of non-violence, compassion and mindfulness.

2. National Integration – to strengthen bonds across diverse regions by engaging with local communities, students, and institutions along the way.

3. Civilisational Continuity – to reaffirm India’s role as the custodian of a moral and cultural heritage that has guided humanity for millennia.

Along its path, the expedition spreads awareness of:

Buddhist ethics and values – ahimsa (non-violence), satya (truth), karuna (compassion), and dhyana (meditation).

Cultural pride – showcasing India’s architectural, artistic, and spiritual legacy.

Road safety and responsible driving – stressing vigilance, sobriety, and adherence to rules.

Shri Chandan Kumar Jajodia of Amravati, Maharashtra has contributed invaluable logistical and local coordination support.

Madhusadan Developer, Thane has provided vital logistical and organisational backing, strengthening operations across multiple states.

Symbolism of the Route

Covering seven Indian states, the route represents the diversity and unity of India itself. Each state adds its distinct layer of meaning: Uttar Pradesh and Bihar with their sacred Buddhist sites; Madhya Pradesh with its cultural crossroads; Maharashtra with its Sahyadri resilience; Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with their vibrant traditions; and Karnataka with its heritage of learning. The journey from the Gangetic plains to the Deccan plateau and further south symbolises India’s ability to integrate many traditions into a single harmonious narrative.

A Message for the Future

The Tri-Services Lord Buddha Circuit Motorcycle Expedition is more than a physical journey. It is a moral compass for the present and a beacon for the future. By bringing together soldiers, civilians, leaders, and youth, it demonstrates that India’s destiny is not only to defend its frontiers but also to guide the world with values of compassion and peace.

From the Sahyadri hills of Maharashtra to the cultural heartlands of the north and the shores of the south, the expedition proclaims that even an ordinary individual, with vision and moral strength, can lead extraordinary change.

Postage stamp on Purshottamdas H. Purohit

Mumbai, August 6.

Governor of Rajasthan His Excellency Haribhau Bagde released a postage stamp in the name of Shri Purshottamdas Purohit on August 02, 2025 at Y. B. Chawhan Center, Mumbai. He originally was from Rajasthan but left his mark in the field of business and social service in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Former Union Finance State minister & Rajya Sabha member Dr. Bhagwat Karad and Post Master General (Navi Mumbai) Suchita Joshi also participated in this program. In the same ceremony, the soft launch of cover picture of the book “Adarsh Manav: Purshottamdas Purohit” which is being penned by Jagdish Purohit was also released. 

The welcome speech was given by son Mr. Vinod Purohit and great grandson of Mr. Purshottamdas Master Dev Sanam Purohit. Vote of thanks was presented by son Mr. Jagdish Purohit. On behalf of P. H. Purohit (Rawatsingh) Charitable Trust its trustee Mr. Ghanshyam Purohit along with family members Mr. Bharat, Mr. Manish, Mr. Sanam, Mr. Sangramsingh and Mr. Ashutosh Purohit welcomed the guest. Mr. Purshottamdas granddaughter Heena Purohit and RJ Rajesh Purohit conducted the stage. Mr. Virendra Kumar Dhokha of Jalna BJP played an important role in this programme. Trustee Mr. Prithviraj who was unable to attend this function due to his acute health issues, in his message granted his best wishes that this function should go smoothly.

Purshottamdas ji alias Rawatsingh ji Purohit, a native of Basant District Pali, was a Karmayogi, an unsung freedom fighter, a visionary entrepreneur and a dedicated philanthropist. He was a man who devoted his life to hard work and selfless service to all sections of society. This ceremony bears testimony to the lasting impact of Shri Purshottamdas H. Purohit as a businessman, social leader and patriot - now immortalised through a postage stamp bearing his name.

Highlighting the biggest contribution of the people of Rajasthan in the nation building of India, His Excellency said that Purshottamdas Purohit was a Karmayogi who linked the scale of success in business in Mumbai with the all-round development of the society in every form and despite being a true soldier of the freedom struggle, he refrained from publicizing and propagating his role. Apart from being a successful businessman, he was also a true leader of the society and today the Government of India has immortalized his contribution by issuing a postage stamp.

Narwekar described the biography of this great man of South Mumbai as the Pole Star and said that society is built because of such people. On the first death anniversary of Purshottamdas on 23 July 1991, the road adjacent to his Adarsh Hotel in Kalbadevi was named as "Shri Purshottamdas H. Purohit Marg".

Former Minister of State for Finance and Rajya Sabha & M.P. Dr. Bhagwat Karad said that among the great men who have contributed to the development of society, one prominent name is that of Purshottamdas Purohit ji, who came to the economic capital Mumbai from the holy land of Marwar, Sumerpur Basant, and started working by making social service the basis of his life and by awakening the spirit of service to the country along with social service, he played a major role in connecting cow service, religious commitment, education and health services as well as migrant people with employment not only in Mumbai but also in various parts of the country.

Former minister Raj K. Purohit and senior Congress leader Bhanwar Singh Rajpurohit, both of them had years of association with Purshottamdas Purohit ji and have seen him very closely. In their address, they drew people's attention towards the qualities of Purshottamdas.

His sons Vinod and Jagdish Purohit recalled their father's dedication and passion for serving the society and assured that they will carry forward the torch of his work. Son Ghanshyam specially thanked the Indian Postal Department for this honour.

चातुर्मास अंतर्गत २ दिवसीय गो संसद का दूसरा सत्र पूरा होनेके पश्चात शंकराचार्य ने मीडिया से बात करते हुए कहा कि गाय को राज्यमाता की उपाधि तो महाराष्ट्र सरकार ने दी है, पर अब अविलंब उसका प्रोटोकॉल भी जारी हो जाना चाहिए। जब तक बात क्रिया में नहीं आएगी तब तक वह कोरी बात बनकर ही रह जाएगी। इसलिए एक महीने के भीतर सरकार को यह कदम उठा लेना चाहिए।

 आज चतुर्थ गोसंसद पर दोपहर 12 से 3 कार्यवाही चली। महाराष्ट्र के नवीन विधायकों का शपथ समारोह एवं नियुक्ति हुई। यह भारत की संसद के समांतर रूप से चलने वाली एक संसद है, जो मात्र गोमाता को राष्ट्रमाता बनाने के अभियान हेतु गठित हुई है। गो माता राष्ट्रमाता अभियान के अंतर्गत गो पालन, गो रक्षा एवं गो पूजन ये तीनों बात सम्मिलित हैं । इसी तीन बातो को क्रियान्वित करने हेतु भारत के प्रत्येक विधानसभा क्षेत्र में एक एक रामा गोधाम की स्थापना कर शुरू करवाया जाए।

रामा गोधाम एक दृष्टि है। 108 गायों को लेकर, उनकी सुविधा, खानपान, उनकी नस्ल की सुरक्षा, क्रॉस ब्रीडिंग से बचाव, स्वास्थ्य एवं सेवा इन सभी बातों पर ध्यान रखा गया है। अनादि काल से वेदों में गाय को मा कहा गया है, वैदिक सनातन धर्मी के लिए यह बात अनादि काल से चली आ रही है।

 रामा गोधाम एक संकल्प है जहां गायों का हितकारी पालन पोषण होगा। रामा गोधाम एक विकल्प भी है, सड़क पर गाय इसलिए है कि हमने उनका गो चरण छीन लिया। जिसका घर छीना जाए वे सड़क पर ही तो आएंगे न? तो यह विकल्प है कि वे सड़क पर न आकर रामा गोधाम में सुख से विचरे।

रामा गोधाम का नक्शा भी प्रस्तुत हुआ, जहां प्रकृति के सान्निध्य में गो माता प्रसन्नता से विहार कर आनंद से भर जाएगी, और उनके थनों से दूध की धारा होगी जो सर्वोत्तम दूध होगा। जिसे वेदों में आयुष्य कहा जाता है। दूध के साथ साथ आशीर्वाद भी प्राप्त होगा जो देश की उन्नति प्रगति का द्योतक बनेगा और एकबार फिर से सनातन धर्म स्थिर होगा। 

रामा गोधाम एक ऐसी योजना है जो कई लोगों को रोजगार भी देगी । 

इसकी सुघड़ता और स्वच्छता मन को प्रसन्न कर देनेवाली होगी और मानसिक उपचार का केंद्र बनेगी ।

रामा गोधाम नाम से ही स्पष्ट होता है कि वह गोशाला मात्र न रहकर धाम बन जाएगी । 

भारत जो बीफ (गो मांस)export (निर्यात)में विश्व में नंबर 2 पर है इस कलंक को मिटाने गाय को। सुरक्षित, सुनिश्चित आवास देने, गाय से उत्पन्न दूध, इत्यादि के स्वास्थ्य वर्धक एकत्रीकरण हेतु और धार्मिक दृष्टि से गोमाता का आशीर्वाद पाने के लिए गोधाम अनिवार्य कदम बन जाएगा।

पत्रकारवार्ता को संबोधन करते हुए फिर से एकबार महाराष्ट्र सरकार को एक महीने के भीतर ही गोमाता राज्यमाता प्रोटोकॉल जारी करने को कहा है। 

गोसंसद का द्वितीय सत्र भी बहुत ही सुचारु ढंग से चला। गो सांसदों ने अपना कार्यभार स्वीकार किया । भी रामा गोधाम को प्रस्थापित करने अपनी कटिबद्धता दिखलाई । महाराष्ट्र में भी भिन्न भिन्न स्थानों पर ये प्रकल्प शुरू हो रहे है।

आज की गोसंसद में परमाराध्य ज्योतिष्पीठ शंकराचार्यजी ने स्वयं सभी प्रश्नों का निराकरण किया । उपाध्यक्ष शास्त्री श्री किशोर दवे तथा श्री देवेंद्र पांडेजी के साथ साध्वी पूर्णांबाजी के सचिवालय के मार्गदर्शन में सुचारु रूप से सम्पूर्ण कार्यवाही संपन्न करवाई। पूरे देश भर से गोसांसद मुंबई में उपस्थित रहकर चतुर्थ गोसंसद को पूरा किया।

निम्न प्रस्ताव पारित किए गए |

चतुर्थ गो संसद मुंबई में पारित प्रस्ताव |

१) महाराष्ट्र की निवर्तमान शिंदे सरकार को गोमाता को 'राज्यमाता' घोषित करने के लिए धन्यवाद प्रस्ताव पारित हुआ |

२) इस महनीय कार्य केलिए तत्कालीन महाराष्ट्र राज्य मुख्यमंत्री श्री एकनाथ शिंदे का नाम स्वर्णाक्षरों में अंकित करने के शंकराचार्य जी के प्रस्ताव का स्वागत प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया।

३) महाराष्ट्र राज्य की वर्तमान सरकार से शीघ्रातिशीघ्र 'राज्यमाता' प्रोटोकोल और 'गौमाता राज्यमाता सम्मान संहिता' निर्मित करने का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया । 

४) महाराष्ट्र राज्य सहित देश के सभी राज्यों की सभी विधानसभा क्षेत्रों (कुल ४१२३) में आदर्श रामाधाम की स्थापना के विचार का अभिनंदन प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया। गोविधायकों और गोसांसदों ने अपने अपने क्षेत्रों में रामाधाम की स्थापना का संकल्प लिया।

५) प्रत्येक विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में कम से कम 80000 मतदाताओं को गोमतदाताओं के रूप में संकल्पित कराने का संकल्प लिया गया और इस हेतु अभियान चलाने का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया।

६) गोहत्या में संलग्न बूचड़खानों को इस कार्य से विरत होने के लिए नोटिस देने का और आवश्यकता पड़ने पर इस हेतु संघर्ष करने के लिए एक 'गोरक्षा सेना' के गठन और प्रशिक्षण का प्रस्ताव भी पारित किया गया ।

७) राजस्थान सरकार द्वारा प्रति गोमाता के लिए आधा वीघा भूमि गोचर भूमि के रूप में आवंटित करने के निर्णय का स्वागत किया गया और धन्यवाद प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया

८) भारत की लोकसभा के वर्तमान सत्र में गोमाता को राष्ट्रमाता बनाने के लिए अपनी आवाज उठाने के लिए होशंगाबाद मध्यप्रदेश सीट से सांसद श्रीमान दर्शन सिंह चौधरी जी के लिए धन्यवाद भेजने का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया ।

ज्ञातव्य है कि संसद में अभी तक यह माँग सेठ गोविंद दासजी, श्री सुब्रमण्यम स्वामी जी और गेनीबेन ठाकोर ने उठाई थी अब उसे चौधरी जी ने आगे बढाया है।

९) उत्तराखंड राज्य सरकार जैसे छोटे ट्रेक्टर केलिए सब्सिडी दे रही है वैसे ही बैल से खेती करने वाले किसान को प्रोत्साहन राशि देने के अनुरोध का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया ।

१०) रामा गाय की पहचान और गाय के नाम पर गवय की सेवा के भ्रम को दूर करने केलिए भारत के प्रत्येक राज्य में डी० एन० ए ० टेस्टिंग मशीन और पकड़े जाने पर वह मांस गोमांस है कि नहीं इसका शीघ्र निर्णय कराये जाने के लिए लैब बनाने का भी प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया।

११) एक रामा गाय की सेवा करने वालों को पंजीकृत होने पर 'रामा सेवक प्रोत्साहन राशि ' देने , एक से अधिक दस तक रामागाय की सेवा करने वालों को पंजीकृत होने पर 'रामापालक प्रोत्साहन राशि' देने , दस से अधिक और १०० तक रामा गाय की सेवा करने वालों को पंजीकृत होने पर 'रामाधाम संचालक प्रोत्साहन राशि' देने का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया।

इस हेतु २ हजार , २० हजार, २ लाख रुपए प्रति माह प्रोत्साहन राशि दिये जाने का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया |

१२) गौसेवा प्रतिष्ठा, रक्षा आदि के इन कार्यों को संपन्न करने हेतु जनता से आर्थिक सहयोग प्राप्त करने का प्रस्ताव भी पारित किया गया । उल्लेखनीय है कि अभी तक लंबा आंदोलन चलाने पर भी शंकराचार्य जी ने कभी इस हेतु १ रुपये का भी चंदा नहीं लिया है । अब कार्य बढाने केलिए आर्थिक सहयोग गौभक्तों से लेने का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया है |

१३)तेलंगाना की वर्तमान सरकार द्वारा 100 एकड भूमि में आदर्श गोशाला स्थापित करने के लिए भी धन्यवाद प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया

१४) पंजाब प्रदेश में छोटे बूचडखानों की स्थापना के विरोध का प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया क्योंकि इन्हीं की आड में गोहत्या की जारी रहने के प्रमाण मिले हैं।

१५) चतुर्थ गो संसद में पहलगांव की घटना में मारे गये निर्दोषों की सद्गति के लिए प्रार्थना की गई |

१६) मालशीरथ विधानसभा के गोविधायक बलभीम संदीपनिर्देशे के असमय काल कवलित होने पर शोक संवेदना व्यक्त की गई।

गोपाष्टमी को पुन: मिलने की सदिच्छा के साथ चतुर्थ गो संसद संपन्न घोषित हुई |

यह गो संसद परमाराध्य परमधर्माधीश के सान्निध्य में प्रवर गोसेवाधीश पं. देवेन्द्र पांडेय दक्षिणांचल गोसेवाधीश पं. किशोर दवे जी के संचालन और द्विशताधिक गो सांसदों विधायकों सहित अनेक विषय विशेषज्ञों से संबोधित और सम्मानित रही।

उपमुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे ने किया शंकराचार्य का पादुका पूजन

परमाराध्य परमधर्माधीश ज्योतिष्पीठाधीश्वर जगद्गुरु शंकराचार्य स्वामी श्री अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद सरस्वती जी महाराज का 56वां जन्मदिवस आज यहां बोरीवली स्थित कोरा केंद्र मैदान पर धूमधाम से मनाया गया। महाराष्ट्र के उपमुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे ने महाराजश्री का पादुका पूजन किया और उन्हें गाय की प्रतिमा प्रदान की। इस अवसर पर सुप्रसिद्ध गायक उदित नारायण और सुप्रसिद्ध गायिका अनुराधा पौडवाल ने मनभावन भजनों की प्रस्तुति की। कार्यक्रम में विधायक प्रकाश सुर्वे, विधायक संजय उपाध्याय सहित देशभर से पधारे साधु संत व वशिष्ट हस्तियां उपस्थिति रहीं। शंकराचार्य स्वामी अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद सरस्वती ने सभी को आशीर्वाद दिया और उन्होंने कहा कि गौ मता ही भारत की सत्य सनातन संस्कृति की रक्षा करेगी। इसलिए हम सभी को मिलकर गौमाता की रक्षा करनी है। अपने आशीर्वचन में उन्होंने कहा कि महाराष्ट्र राज्य ने गौमाता को राजमाता का दर्जा देकर इतिहास रच दिया है। अब पूरे भारत में इतिहास रचना है। इस अवसर पर उपमुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे ने कहा कि देश में गौमाता ही सनातन संस्कृति की रक्षा कर सकती है। स्वामी अविमुक्तेश्वरानंद गौमाता को राष्ट्र माता का दर्जा दिलाने के लिए अभियान चला रहे हैं, उनके साथ पूरा महाराष्ट्र खड़ा है। उल्लेखनीय है कि महाराष्ट्र में गौमाता को राजमाता का दर्जा देने के एकनाथ शिंदे के मुख्यमंत्रित्व काल के निर्णय पर उनका नाम स्वर्णाक्षरों में दर्ज कराने की शंकराचार्य ने घोषणा की है। इस पर प्रतिक्रया देते हुए श्री शिंदे ने कहा कि इसे मैं प्रसाद के रूप में स्वीकार करता हूं। यह अकेले एकनाथ शिंदे का नहीं बल्कि पूरे महाराष्ट्र की जनता का सम्मान है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि गौ माता के लिए इस तरह का साहसिक निर्णय लेने की प्रेरणा उन्हें स्वामीजी के ही कारण मिली। श्री शिंदे ने आगे कहा कि अन्याय के खिलाफ हिम्मत करनी होती है और महाराष्ट्र ने यह देखा है।

पृथ्वी तिवारी की भोजपुरी सिनेमा में धूम मचाने आ रही है फिल्म "छाया"

प्रग्यामैटिक फिल्म प्रा लि के बैनर तले बन रही भोजपुरी फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में एक और शानदार फिल्म की शुरुआत हो गई है। निर्माता गौरव छाबड़ा और प्रियंका छाबड़ा की जोड़ी ने अपनी नई फिल्म "छाया" की शूटिंग शुरू कर दी है। इस फिल्म का निर्देशन जसपाल कर रहे हैं। भोजपुरी फिल्म "छाया" की टीम ने अपनी प्रतिभा का प्रदर्शन करते हुए इस फिल्म को बनाने में अपना योगदान दिया है। "छाया" एक भावपूर्ण कहानी है जो दर्शकों को आकर्षित करेगी।

मुंबई, 17 अप्रैल बॉलीवुड के जानेमाने अभिनेता सोनू सूद ने निर्देशक अर्जुन राज की आने वाली हिंदी फिल्म "खेल पासपोर्ट का" का फर्स्ट लुक पोस्टर रिलीज कर दिया है। इस फिल्म का ट्रेलर 18 अप्रील को मुम्बई मे डी आर जे रिकॉर्ड म्यूजिक से रिलिज होगी ।

In literature, the Vagvilasini Puraskar will be awarded to Shreepalji Sabnis for his eloquent and enduring literary contributions. New Book Questions the Relevance of the UN through the lens of the Peacekeeping Crisis in Sierra Leone at the turn of the Century.

NEW DELHI, March 25, 2025 – A powerful new critique of United Nations Peacekeeping Operations hits shelves today with the release of “The Unforgettable Saga of Sierra Leone”, written by the Force Commander who navigated the Mission from the depths of despair to the pinnacle of success. Personally planning, conducting and participating in a number of military operations including the world famous “Operation Khukri”- the daring operation conducted in May 2000, that rescued hundreds of peacekeepers surrounded by ruthless rebels, the Force Commander recounts in graphic details the nitty gritty of such complicated military operations.

The author’s first-hand account exposes fundamental flaws in the UN system detailing how peacekeepers, lacking adequate equipment and training, were deployed in far flung remote areas without support. The book raises urgent questions about the UN’s ability to effectively execute its mandate in conflict zones and its continued relevance in its present avatar.

 “Rebels from the Revolutionary United Front attacked my troops on 1st May 2000. Subsequently, between 2nd and 3rd May 2000, rebels captured a large number of my troops and surrounded many others. During this period, we faced not just the physical enemy but also the consequence of institutional failures,” writes the author. “Acute command and control problems, parallel chains of command and Regional and International political maneuvering nearly cost a hundred lives and almost spelt the doom of the Mission.”

“Operation Khukri” serves as the dramatic centerpiece of the narrative, illustrating how a multinational force was honed into a formidable fighting machine that overcame seemingly unsurmountable challenges through “meticulous planning, bold execution, determination and fortitude.” The author provides in his book an unprecedented insight into the strategic decisions made under extreme pressure when Kenyan, Zambian and Indian peacekeepers found themselves under attack in Sierra Leone’s most remote areas.

Beyond military strategy and tactics, the book delivers a scathing analysis of why the UN consistently struggles to secure well- equipped and properly trained troops for Missions where active combat is anticipated. It also highlights the regional and international interests that influenced and often impacted the operational effectiveness of the Mission to Sierra Leone.
