Governor of Rajasthan His Excellency Haribhau Bagde released a postage stamp in the name of Shri Purshottamdas Purohit on August 02, 2025 at Y. B. Chawhan Center, Mumbai. He originally was from Rajasthan but left his mark in the field of business and social service in Maharashtra. Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar, Former Union Finance State minister & Rajya Sabha member Dr. Bhagwat Karad and Post Master General (Navi Mumbai) Suchita Joshi also participated in this program. In the same ceremony, the soft launch of cover picture of the book “Adarsh Manav: Purshottamdas Purohit” which is being penned by Jagdish Purohit was also released.
The welcome speech was given by son Mr. Vinod Purohit and great grandson of Mr. Purshottamdas Master Dev Sanam Purohit. Vote of thanks was presented by son Mr. Jagdish Purohit. On behalf of P. H. Purohit (Rawatsingh) Charitable Trust its trustee Mr. Ghanshyam Purohit along with family members Mr. Bharat, Mr. Manish, Mr. Sanam, Mr. Sangramsingh and Mr. Ashutosh Purohit welcomed the guest. Mr. Purshottamdas granddaughter Heena Purohit and RJ Rajesh Purohit conducted the stage. Mr. Virendra Kumar Dhokha of Jalna BJP played an important role in this programme. Trustee Mr. Prithviraj who was unable to attend this function due to his acute health issues, in his message granted his best wishes that this function should go smoothly.
Purshottamdas ji alias Rawatsingh ji Purohit, a native of Basant District Pali, was a Karmayogi, an unsung freedom fighter, a visionary entrepreneur and a dedicated philanthropist. He was a man who devoted his life to hard work and selfless service to all sections of society. This ceremony bears testimony to the lasting impact of Shri Purshottamdas H. Purohit as a businessman, social leader and patriot - now immortalised through a postage stamp bearing his name.
Highlighting the biggest contribution of the people of Rajasthan in the nation building of India, His Excellency said that Purshottamdas Purohit was a Karmayogi who linked the scale of success in business in Mumbai with the all-round development of the society in every form and despite being a true soldier of the freedom struggle, he refrained from publicizing and propagating his role. Apart from being a successful businessman, he was also a true leader of the society and today the Government of India has immortalized his contribution by issuing a postage stamp.
Narwekar described the biography of this great man of South Mumbai as the Pole Star and said that society is built because of such people. On the first death anniversary of Purshottamdas on 23 July 1991, the road adjacent to his Adarsh Hotel in Kalbadevi was named as "Shri Purshottamdas H. Purohit Marg".
Former Minister of State for Finance and Rajya Sabha & M.P. Dr. Bhagwat Karad said that among the great men who have contributed to the development of society, one prominent name is that of Purshottamdas Purohit ji, who came to the economic capital Mumbai from the holy land of Marwar, Sumerpur Basant, and started working by making social service the basis of his life and by awakening the spirit of service to the country along with social service, he played a major role in connecting cow service, religious commitment, education and health services as well as migrant people with employment not only in Mumbai but also in various parts of the country.
Former minister Raj K. Purohit and senior Congress leader Bhanwar Singh Rajpurohit, both of them had years of association with Purshottamdas Purohit ji and have seen him very closely. In their address, they drew people's attention towards the qualities of Purshottamdas.
His sons Vinod and Jagdish Purohit recalled their father's dedication and passion for serving the society and assured that they will carry forward the torch of his work. Son Ghanshyam specially thanked the Indian Postal Department for this honour.
The program started with Ganesh and Pitru Vandana presented by Pt. Mahesh Paithne. Prominent people present in the program included former minister Dr. Jaiprakash Mundada, Ramesh Kumar Bang, Dr. Shobha Purohit, Radha Purohit, Labhshankar Ladunagar, Gopal Singh Khinchhan, Jagdish Singh Ghendi, Suresh Shivtalao, Jograj Singh Odwada, Sohan Singh Jaisinghjiguda, Vijay Singh (CPE) Shivtalao, CA Amar Bafna, Ramchandra Bhansali Bharat Nagar, Builder Umedbhai Vardan, Suresh Sonigra, CA Chetan Jain, Ganpat Kothari, Kalpesh Umeshbhai Nana, Jitendra Ashok and Yogesh Khimsingh Netra, Khetsingh Mahudi along with other dignitaries.
