Sanhita Manch Festival returns for season 2 with three new plays

Mumbai: Sanhita Manch Festival is an initiative by the Being Association which solely strives to create social awareness through theatre. Mumbai, which has always been a cultural hub of India, which gives opportunities to all who get attracted to this entertainment port, allowed Being Association to create and stage our theatrical concepts in very creative form. In this commercial environment of our entertainment industry, it becomes very necessary to experiment and explore theatre, through reading our rich literature, and general awareness about social-political conditions. It’s a group of people of all ages, who are professional actors, writers, directors as well as newcomers, some of which are NSD Graduates.

Hindi literature might not date back to a very long forgotten era, but post-independence contemporary times have been a witness to its creative rise and development. On a general basis, every big name in literature enjoys much prominence in the mainstream. In such a scenario, the emerging writers always struggle very hard to carve a niche for themselves. Being Association aims at bringing New original theatre scripts to the readers and theatre viewers.

Undertaking this responsibility, they organised 'Sanhita Manch' in 2017 and received various scripts from all over India. Our respected jury selected the 3 best scripts and those plays got staged in Mumbai and Delhi last year.

This year the festival will travel to Amritsar too along with staging in Mumbai and Delhi.

Rasika Agashe who along with her husband Zeeshan Aayub is spearheading this project expresses, "Sanhitamanch gives platform to writers, but also its an effort to connect the dots between writers and directors of our time."

Resonating with wife Rasika's thoughts, Mohd.Zeeshan Ayyub ads on, "
Coming from theatre, and now while doing films, I have realise that,
content is the essence of everything. And searching for new content and
giving it a platform, is not only about our creativity but it is responsibility."

In the succession, they now have come up with ‘Sanhita Manch 2018’ this year and they are glad to declare that they
received around 100 entries this, year and have surpassed the number of entries from last year.

This year's jury - Mr Ranjit Kapoor and Mr Atul Tiwari, have shortlisted the three best plays to be staged this year.
