THE SCHINDLER GLOBAL AWARD (SGA) 2018/19 HEADS TO INDIA on 10th MAY 2019

Mumbai; 14^th March 2019: Schindler India,leading providers of escalators and elevators, a 100% owned subsidiary of Schindler Group will be hosting the prestigious ‘The Schindler Global Award’ on 10^th May 2019.

 

The Schindler Global Award (SGA) is a one-of-a-kind urban design competition that encourages students to put their skills to the test and participate in the making of liveable and sustainable urban environments – with mobility in mind. 

With over 100'000 US$ in prizes and a jury of international experts and practitioners, The Schindler Global Award gives the students of today a chance to contribute to the cities of tomorrow. The competition is open to final-year bachelors and all master’s degree students of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and planning, from degree-granting educational institutions worldwide.

The 2018/19 competition is based in Mumbai, India. As the second largest city in the world, Mumbai presents many challenges, offering participating students a chance to engage with spatial, social and strategic topics. The megacity, Mumbai is also a benchmark for South Asia and beyond. It requires integrated and sustainable urban systems that make the benefits of the city accessible to all its inhabitants. How it approaches continuing growth and manages development processes is relevant at every scale, from neighbourhood to national and global.

 

The Schindler Global Award 2018/19 is committed to presenting a diverse range of geographic, cultural and urban contexts to help prepare students for the increasingly globalized nature of design thinking and practice. Students will be encouraged to come up with designs that respond to fundamental questions about life in contemporary cities, from living conditions to environmental balance, and from infrastructure to public space.

 

The Schindler Global Award 2018/2019 is held under the leadership of the Schindler Group, again in collaboration with the ETH Zurich, Chair of Architecture and Urban Design, Professor Kees Christiaanse. Prof. Christiaanse will act as SGA Co-Chair together with Prof. Peter Staub, University of Liechtenstein.

जागतिक महिलादिनानिमित्त तृतीयपंथी आणि वेश्या व्यावसायिक मुलांसाठी सामाजिक काम करणाऱ्या तृतीयपंथी कार्यकर्त्या गौरी सावंत यांचा जीवन प्रवास उलगडणारे 'गौरी -द अर्ज टू फ्लाय' पुस्तक लवकरच प्रकाशित होणार आहे. 'राईट क्लीक पब्लिकेशन्स' द्वारे प्रकाशित होणाऱ्या या पुस्तकाच्या मुखपृष्ठाचे अनावरण आज शुक्रवारी (८ मार्च) जागतिक महिलादिनानिमित्त प्रेस क्लब, मुंबई मध्ये झाले.  

वेश्या व्यावसायिक महिलेची मुलगी दत्तक घेऊन मातृकर्तव्य करणाऱ्या प्रथम तृतीयपंथीय ठरलेल्या गौरी सावंत यांचा जीवनप्रवास, संघर्ष, शोध पुस्तकात मांडला आहे. त्यांच्या 'नानी का घर' या स्वयंसेवी संस्थेतील त्यांच्या 'नानी' या व्यक्तिरेखेचे पैलू समाजापर्यंत आणण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे. २००१ मध्ये गायत्रीला दत्तक घेतल्यानंतर 'नानी  का घर' या स्वयंसेवी संस्थेच्या माध्यमातून सेक्स वर्कर्स, जन्मतः तुतीयपंथी असणाऱ्या मुलांना दत्तक घेऊन त्यांचा सांभाळ करण्याचे, त्यांना शिक्षण देणे आणि आरोग्याची काळजी घेण्याचे काम गौरी सावंत करत आहेत. 

गौरी सावंत यांना आलेल्या समस्या, आव्हाने व त्यांनी दिलेला त्यासाठीचा लढा याची माहिती पुस्तकाद्वारे उलगडणार आहे. पुस्तकाची संकल्पना रचना शाह यांची आहे. 

या पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन येत्या १२ मे २०१९ ला मातृदिनी होणार असल्याची माहिती, युवा लेखक रिदम वाघोलीकर यांनी प्रेस क्लब, मुंबई येथे झालेल्या पत्रकार परिषदेत दिली.

पुणे निवासीत २५ वर्षीय तरुण लेखक आणि 'अप्पलाऊड' स्वयंसेवी संस्थेचे संस्थापक रिदम वाघोलीकर हे या पुस्तकाचे लेखक आहेत. यांनी अनोख्या ग्रामोफोन आकारात मुद्रीत झालेले जगातील पहिले 'स्वरलता -रिदमीक रेमिनीसेस ऑफ लता दीदी' हे लता मंगेशकर यांच्यावरील पुस्तक लिहिले आहे. तसेच 'स्वरमंडळ (इंडियन हार्प) आकारातील किशोरी आमोणकर यांच्यावरील 'द सोल स्टीरिंग व्हॉइस गानसरस्वती किशोरी आमोणकर' पुस्तक लिहिले आहे. प्रतिष्ठित समजल्या जाणाऱ्या महात्मा गांधी सन्मान करणारे सर्वात तरुण भारतीय आहेत. 

पत्रकार परिषदेला तृतीयपंथी कार्यकर्त्या गौरी सावंत, युवा लेखक रिदम वाघोलीकर संबोधित केले. 

'एच आय व्ही झालेल्या वेश्या व्यवसाय करणाऱ्या महिलेच्या मृत्यूनंतर तिच्या ५ वर्षाच्या मुलीला दत्तक घेतले आणि मातृत्वाचा प्रवास सुरु झाला. गायत्रीमुळे मला आईपण मिळाले. आणि 'नानी का घर' स्वयंसेवी संस्थेच्या माध्यमातून ते पुढे कार्यरत आहे', असे तृतीयपंथी कार्यकर्त्या गौरी सावंत यांनी पत्रकार परिषदेत बोलताना सांगितले.

'रिदम वाघोलीकर यांनी हे पुस्तक लिहुन माझी इच्छापूर्ती केली आहे. पुस्तकामुळे समाजात उपेक्षित राहिलेल्या माझ्यासारख्या समदुःखी तृतीयपंथी, वेश्या व्यावसायिक आणि जन्मतः तृतीयपंथी असणाऱ्या मुलांना (हर्माफ्रोडाईट) न्याय मिळणार आहे. मला अतिशय आनंद वाटतो की, तृतीयपंथी समाजाला डावलले जाते अशी समाज प्रवृत्ती बदलण्यास या पुस्तकाच्या माध्यमातून मदत होणार आहे. 

'मुंबईला आले आणि स्त्री म्हणून अभिव्यक्ती जपत आले. हिंदुस्तानात जेंडर इक्विलिटी अजून नाही. लग्न व्हावे ही माझीही अपेक्षा होती; पण लैंगिकता, भूक यांच्यापेक्षा जबाबदारी जास्त कळत गेली. मग स्वयंसेवी संस्थेच्या माध्यमातून काम सुरु झाले. समाजात उपेक्षित राहिलेल्या तृतीयपंथी वर्गाची मी माऊली होऊन कार्यरत राहणार आहे', असे देखील त्या म्हणाल्या. 

पत्रकार परिषदेत बोलताना लेखक रिदम वाघोलीकर म्हणाले, 'समाज 'स्त्री'ला मूलभूत अधिकारांपासून वंचित ठेवून एका मर्यादेत राहण्यास भाग पाडत आहे. यामुळे तीला लढत राहावे लागते. गौरी सावंत एक अशीच योद्धा आहे. तिचा आजपर्यंतचा प्रवास अत्यंत प्रशंसनीय आहे. पुस्तकातून तृतीयपंथीयांच्या समस्या, आव्हाने, गरजा यांची उकल करण्यात आली आहे.

सर्वोच्च न्यायालयात लढा देणाऱ्या गौरी सावंत तृतीयपंथीयांची आई आहे. तीने नारीशक्ती चा वापर करून अनाथ गायत्रीला तस्करीपासून वाचवून दत्तक घेतले. गायत्रीला आपल्या निस्वार्थ आणि सांत्वनदायक पंखांची उब दिली. तेंव्हापासून ती 'सेक्स वर्कर' च्या मुलांसाठी आणि जन्मतः तृतीयपंथी मुलांसाठी सतत कार्यरत आहे. अशा योद्धेचा जीवन प्रवास समाजापर्यंत पोहोचविण्यासाठी हे पुस्तक लिहिण्याचे योजिले. समाजात खरे बदल घडतात जेंव्हा गौरी सारखे सुधारक जन्माला येतात.'

'आम्हाला आशा आहे की हे पुस्तक लाखो लोकांपर्यंत पोहोचेल. पुस्तकाद्वारे जो गौरी आणि आमच्या कुटुंबाला मदतीचा हात देईल आणि प्रवासाचा भाग बनू शकेल असे एकत्र येण्यास मदत होऊ शकेल, असे देखील रिदम वाघोलीकर म्हणाले.

After adopting 5-year-old Gayatri in 2001, Gauri Sawant has established 'Nani Ka Ghar': a home where children of sex workers and hermaphrodite children provided with shelter, food, healthcare, and basic education. At this Mumbai-based abode she aims to not only shower children with love and care, but also impart basic education and healthcare. Anyone below the age of 18 is welcome here. 'Naani ka Ghar' was born from this thought. What can be more welcoming for a child than his or her grandmother's house: a place where every child is pampered and loved the way they deserve to be. While the land for the home has been donated, Gauri has already put in the money she won on Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. She is currently raising more funds for the home through crowdfunding.

Nani ka Ghar seems to have become a symbol of Gauri’s purpose in life. She is dedicating all her efforts to make this safe haven for children a reality. Gauri believes she provided a secure future and better opportunities to these children by providing them with love, affection, safety, healthcare, and education, helping them live a dignified life with options.

Kala Shah Kala receives thumbs-up from the TV industry

Punjabi film Kala Shah Kala, that hit screens one month ago and has been creating waves at the box office has received an overwhelming response from the audience. A special screening of the Sargun Mehta- starrer was organised which was attended by the cream of the TV industry on Wednesday, March 13 at Fun Republic multiplex, Andheri.

Biggies such as  Karan Patel, Meiyang Chang, Rithvik Dhanjani, Ridhi Dogra, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aamir Ali, Ankita Bharagava and Hina Khan attended the screening. Other guests included Vikas Gupa, Srman Jain, Sehzad Deol, Vipul Roy, Neil Bhatt, Karan Grover, Mohit Malhotra, Indraneil Gupta and Barkha Bhist.

The romedy has been written and directed by Amarjit Singh. The film is produced by Naughty Men Productions and Infantry Pictures in association with Dreamityata Entertainment and also stars Binnu Dhillon and Jordan Sandhu in lead roles. Ravi and Sargun attended all guests personally and they come across as the perfect power couple and they were flooded with compliments after the film screening.

The well-known literature foundation, Pasbaan-e- Adab, most awaited regional language event, Kavyanjali 2019 – took place at Rang Shardha Hall at Bandra Mumbai on 8th March 2019.
An evening filled with different views in the form of poetry were presented
Marathi Poets to a packed auditorium.
The audience were enthralled hearing the recitations in various forms by famous and well known Marathi Poets, Anil Kumble, Gayatri Sapre, Supra Joshi, Sandeep Khare, Sameer Samant,
Vaibhav Joshi. Poetry which was not only touching the hearts of the audienc
encouraged them to think of the impact of one’s actions through words in our daily lives and Community. The vision of spreading peace and harmony is always the core of Pasbaan -e-Adab
which the poets always project and share across so beautifully.
Being an evening honoring woman, and celebrating their role and contribution to society, an initiative for ‘Self-protection’ has been started in which the women actively participated, and the audience appreciated the same with Pasbaan-e-Adab – Introduction
The younger generation of our times is getting detached from their traditional and cultural roots due to influences of different cultures. Change is always difficult and though we learn
from other cultures, keeping our heritage and culture alive by spreading the knowledge about its richness and depth is crucial for the next generations to be able to access, learn and value it.
Pasbaan-e-Adab, stands for protecting the patrons of literature. The foundation aims to spread and maintain the country’s historical and cultural values.This was the primary reason for which Pasbaan-e-adab was formed.
In the past decade, the foundation has organized many programs, promoting peace and harmony through Literature. As an institution it has grown to welcome an elite audience and willingness to learn and grow their understanding of Literature in various languages and forms in the company of the most renowned poets of the country. It includes, Poetry Festival, Anubhuti – Quality Hindi Literature, heritage, Kavyanjali – Literary works from Marathi Poets & Literati.
These programs are conducted in the Hindi, Urdu and Marathi languages respectively. The programs include International Literature Festival, adapting well known literature writings with
a musical representation, discussions and views on various writings by the poets and writers.

Shri Quaiser Khalid,a serving IGP, Mumbai Police, is the founder of Pasbaan-e-Adab (in Mumbai) and Jashan-e-Adab (in New Delhi). Being passionate about literature, he set up the foundation with a mission is to keep the culture of the Ganges-born Indian Heritage alive. Shri Khaild believes that to maintain harmony and co-existence in all classes of the society, literature plays
an important and pivotal role. He further adds, “Literature has its thoughts and till we share and understand each other’s viewpoints on various topics and issues of the society, our feelings of humanity are not rekindled to be able to understand the need to coexist in harmony and peace”.
