Indian Ironmen Felicitated Praveen Teotia and Deepak Ghosh duo honoured by India Press



Mumbai, 24th August:

Indian Ironman (Triathlon Winning Athletes) Mr. Praveen Kumar Teotia, Marcos and Shaurya Chakra Awardee for showing gallantry in 26/11 Mumbai Attack and Mr. Deepak K. Ghosh, Divisional Fire Officer, Mumbai Fire Brigade were presented with Statue Of Unity symbolizing "The Real Ironman of India". Event was organised by India Press along with Nagindas Khandwala College in collaboration with NASM Academy of Sports Management and Adarsh Group of Hotels.

In the welcome speech, Mr. Jagdish Purohit, editor of India Press and other portals, urged that we should also take interest in all types of sports activities and show the entire world our Strength & Character.

Mr. Praveen Kumar Teotia, inspired the students with his success mantra of “Never giving up attitude” and trust of “Believe in yourself”. Students were highly motivated with his talks and experience he shared. He is the man who has survived 4 bullets and lives with bullet shrapnel in his body. Born in Buland Shaher (UP), he stays in Meerut and his greatest motivation is his elder brother, who serves the Nation and biggest support system is his legend farmer father.

Mr. Deepak K. Ghosh, an indomitable spirit, with over 26 years in Fire and Emergency services is the recipient of "Presidents Fire Service Medal for Gallantry" & “Toughest Fire Fighter Alive” award to name a few. He has played a major role in the implementation of Integrated Command & Control Room in Mumbai Fire Brigade. Being an exceptionally good orator, he kept the students glued with his positive stories, inspired everyone and advised to open the barriers in the brain and believe in hard work. 

Mr. Vipul Solanki and Mr. Jagdish Purohit presented the award to eminent dignitaries, Mr. Jaie Khedwal anchored the function and Mr. Vijendra Bhatia presented the vote of thanks.

The respect and duty towards mother nation is the 1st priority, is what the youth need to learn from these unsung heroes. Young generation are looking for more opportunities to stay connected to them and are motivated to think of ideas to serve back to the Society.

At the inception of function rich tributes were offered to Saheed Shivaram Rajguru on his 111th Birth anniversary.

The highly significant panel discussion was attended by the Students pursuing their careers in the Sports Management industry. The discussion was moderated by the faculty member of the College. The panel discussion featured prominent speakers including:

1.     Praveen Kumar Teotia-Special force MARCOS. He has won the Shaurya Chakra for his heroic actions in saving lives during the infamous terror attacks of 26/11, Mumbai, 2008. He has also won the Ironman Title; awarded to those selected athletes who complete the three-stage triathlon known as the Ironman Triathlon. He also completed the amazing Khardungla Challenge; a grueling 72 km race, known for being the world’s highest Ultra-marathon. Has been an active member of “Operation Rainbow East” a rescue operation conducted by the INS Sutlej at Galle and Colombo in Sri Lanka when the country was devastated by tsunami. He also led the “Operation Nilam Vishakhapatnam”.

2.     Mr. Deepak K. Ghosh; an indomitable spirit, a spirit developed by fighting on, come rain and fire. A Divisional Fire Officer in the Mumbai Fire Brigade, serving since 1993. A member of the Flood Rescue Team in the MCGM Disaster Team, since 2006 dealing with major calamities and disasters across India. He has completed the Ironman Triathlon, China 2019. He and his team won 7 medals for India in 13th World Fire Fighter Games, Korea 2018. He is a live example that age is not a barrier, as he began his running career at the age of 45 years and completed many marathon. He chose the date as 14th April for his debut for Ironman, on the occasion of National Fire Service Day.
